前回に引き続き、無機物特集です！
今日ご紹介するのは、長山海澄さんの「12本の六角柱の複合体」。
３色の棒が複雑に絡み合う、インパクト抜群の構造体です。

I made an inorganic origami work again.
This is "Compound of 12 hexagonal prism" by Kaito Nagayama, amazing structure that the 12 sticks intertwined.
１２本の棒は同じ形なのですが、内側に仕込まれた「へこみ」が絶妙に噛み合うことで、ガッチリと固定されています。
「木製パズルに着想を得た」とのことですが、パーツの干渉位置まで計算して折り紙にしちゃう長山さんがクレイジーすぎる（ほめてる）。
12 sticks have the same shape, they are completely fixed by fitting the inner dents together.
This model was inspired by a wooden puzzle. It's incredible that Kaito Nagayama even designed the location where parts interfere with each other.
ユニット折り紙は、数分で作れる単純なパーツを組み合わせることが多いのですが、本作は棒１本１時間の大作でした。
組み上がった時の達成感と余韻はんぱない。
Origami unit works are usually easy to make each part and takes few minutes, but this time it took about an hour.
It was deeply satisfying to finally complete the form.

さて、解説です。
素材は「ケント スターライト」。
柏高島屋の展示会に伺った際にセット購入したもので、カラーはゴールド・シルバー・ブルーダイヤモンドの３色です。
Now I'll explain.
The paper is "Kent Starlight". The clolors are gold, silver, and blue diamond.
I got at an exhibition held at Takashimaya in Kashiwa.
それぞれの棒は、中間にあたる「ユニットＡ」と、その両端をふさぐ「ユニットＢ」の３枚でできています。
棒は１２本なので、必要枚数は計３６枚。
・ユニットＡ：Ａ５サイズ
・ユニットＢ：Ａ６サイズ
つまりＡ４サイズ１枚から棒１本、１２枚で棒１２本＝全てのパーツを作ることができます。
Each stick is made of three parts, one "Unit A (A5)" and two "Unit B (A6)".
That means A4 paper can be one stick, 12 sticks require 12 A4 papers.
筒状にまとめるだけならラクなのですが、棒同士が噛み合う「へこみ」を作るために複雑な仕込みが必要です。
It's easy to make it cylindrical shape, actually the structure is extremely complex creases to make "dents".
まずはユニットＡ。
くぼみの「法面」を２箇所作るので、けっこう時間がかかります。
Unit A
It takes pretty long time to make two slopes that'll be "Dents".
ユニットＢ。
底面がキレイに閉じる瞬間が気持ち良いです。
キレイに閉じなかった場合は、うまく誤魔化せば良いのです。
Unit B
It's so satisfying when the base closes cleanly.
If not, adjust it.
Ａの先をすぼめて、Ｂに差し込みます。
グリッとねじ込む感じなので、そう簡単には抜けません。念のためノリを用意しましたが、まったく要りませんでした。
Ａの芯がへこんだままになりますが、ここは組み立てるとちょうど内側にあたり、見えなくなるので問題なし。
Insert A into B while narrowing the stem.
It'll be completely fixed without glue.
A will remain bent, but they will be hidden inside the structure.
ようやく１２本の棒が揃いました。
単純計算で１２時間。すでに達成感。
初期の頃に作ったパーツは折りが甘いので、折り直しやノリ入れで微調整しておきます。地味ですが、こういう作業はとても大切です。
Finally all 12 sticks were collected, taking about 12 hours.
Some parts that I made in thd early stages were poor quality, so I re-folded or applied glue not to be unfolded. These adjustments are plain but very important.
いよいよ組み立てです。
これがまた大変で、「へこみ」に棒がスコスコはまり…というわけにはいかず。
あっちを組んだらこっちがはずれ、完成したと思ったら色を間違えるというアホをやらかしたので、綺麗に並べてから組んでいくことに。
Assembly
It was not easy to fit each dent together. Easy to collapse, and more, I miss the color arrangement once.
So I played again putting all parts on a table correctly in advance.
３０分くらい格闘した末、ようやく完成！！
Finally completed after 30min!
撮影にも熱が入ります。達成感半端ない。お疲れ様でした。
It was also exciting to shoot. I'm satisfied a lot.

本作をやりたくなった人へ、まさにぃのワンポイントアドバイス。
I left some advice for you.
■作る順番
実はユニットＢ→Ａがオススメ。
Ｂは筒のロック機構がしっかりしており、放置しても開きません。
一方でＡは、クリップで留めておかないと開いてしまうのです。
つまり、Ｂを作っておいて、Ａができたらスッポリはめれば良いわけです。
■The order to make unit A and B
Unit A → B is a better way.
Unit B has a Locking structure on the joint, so it's hardly unfolded.
On the other hand, unit A is easily unfolded unless clipping on.
That means, you should make B in advance and match both after making A.
■折り筋の深さ
ユニットＡ・Ｂともに格子状の折り筋をびっしり付けますが、大半はナナメ線を正確に入れるための布石なので、強烈にプレスしなくても大丈夫でした。
ケント紙はかたいので手が疲れますが、慣れると所々で「省エネ」できます。
■Firmness of creases
Both unit A and B need complex lattice creases.
These are for making diagonal lines correctly, so some of them are not necessary to press firmly.
Kent paper is so thick that the fingers are exhausted, but some lines can be omitted.
■ユニットＢの底面
シュッと閉じてキレイな六角形に仕上げたいところですが、なかなか完璧にはいきません。
私なりの工夫として、工程47-48の段階で、各レーンの中点すべてに目印をつけてから段折りしました。
■The base of Unit B
It has better to close the base a crisp hexagon, but pretty difficult to finish perfectly.
I devised to add marks on each middle point in step 47-48.
折り図にはないステップですが、私のように「精度に自信がない」という人は、一手間かけて不安材料を消しておくと、気持ちよく進められます。
These methods are not in the diagram, but it'll be safely for people who is warried about making it precisely.
最後は内側から指を突っ込んで押さえ込み、外側からしっかりプレス。
あとで勝手に開いたりしないよう、浮いた折り目をここで折り直しておくのです。
Finally, press hard on the outside while holding from the inside.
Re-fold the creases not to be unfolded.
紙の端がちょっとハミ出るのは私的に許容範囲内。めっちゃ正確に折っても紙の厚みのぶんズレます。あらかじめ逆算して折るか、いっそ切り落とすのも手ですね（私はこのままが良いです）。
It's fine that the edge appears slightly. It may be misaligned by the thickness of a paper, even if you fold correctly.
You can calculate the dimensions backwards in advance, or cut it off.
■立体化の前の下準備
板チョコような「出っぱり」を作る、ユニットＡの工程17-20。
（ユニットＢでは工程53にあたります）
谷折り（工程17+19）が正確な「角の二等分線」となるよう、両側から合わせてみましょう。意外とズレてます。ピッタリ合わない、または奥まで折れていないと、不恰好な立体になります。
私レベルだと成功率はそれほど高くないのですが、綺麗にキマると気持ちが良いです。
Step 17-20 in unit A of making a bump like a chocolate (Step 53 in unit B).
Match both layers so that the valley folds (step 17+19) "angle bisector" correctly. This spot tends to be misaligned, and the completed form tends to collapse.
I hardly success it, but it's so cool if done.
■折り図よく見よう
アドバイスではないんですけど、
折り筋の仕込み、間違えやすいです。特にユニットＡ。
単に私がアホなだけなのですが、「覚えた！」と思った矢先にやらかします。
大体の線は最後に隠れちゃうから問題はないんですけど、とっても悔しい思いします。
少しでも「あれ？」と思ったら、折り図をこまめに確認しましょう。私のように赤っ恥をかかないために。
■Look carefully at the diagram
When making creases, I usually take a mistake, especially in unit A. It happens when I felt I understood.
Most of the wrong creases will be hidden inside, but uncool.
You should check once you're not sure, not to regret.
