折り紙ガチ勢の楽園「折紙探偵団コンベンション」のレポートです。
Welcome to Atelier masanii.
I'll report about "30th Origami Tanteidan Convention"!
全国・全世界から、総勢４００人のオリガミストが一堂に会するビッグイベント。
「折り友」との再会、レジェンド作家さんとの対面、盛りだくさんの講習…
今年も、実に濃密な２日間でした。
遅ればせながら、レポートいたします！
Gathered about 400 Origamists all over the world, we spent a pleasant time for reunion, meeting great creators and various origami classes.

開催日は8/9(土)・8/10(日)の２日間。
会場は、東洋大学赤羽キャンパスです。
前回の東京大学のモダンな雰囲気も気に入っていましたが、ここも綺麗で快適な場所でした。
新宿から一本で行けるのがありがたい。
This event was held in Aug9th-10st, at Toyo univ.
Though Tokyo univ the previous venue was nice, and this time was also comfortable.
It was notable that I could access from Shinjuku directly.
イベント全体は、
■開会〜特別講演（初日）
■折り紙教室（２日間）
■展示（２日間）
ざっくり、こんな感じに分かれています。
The contents are divided into the following,
・Opening〜Special seminar -First day
・Origami classes - 2 days
・Exhibition - 2 days
朝９時。
受付を済ませたら、ほどなくして一般展示のブースが開場。参加者有志が持ち寄った力作が次々と並んでいきます。
ヤバい、美しい、面白い！！
後ほどゆっくり紹介させていただきます。
9:00 A.M.
After reception, the exhibition venue was open and the participants brought their masterpieces one after another.
They're all beautiful & incredible, I'll show you later.

９時４０分から、折り紙教室のエントリー。
受付で配られた名札に「整理番号」がついており、その順番通りに並んでいきます。
１日目と２日目で順番が逆になっており、「初日に早い→翌日は遅い」といったシステムになっているのが特徴。
当然、人気作家の講習は争奪戦で、早々になくなります。遅い番号の人はハラハラです。
9:40 A.M.
Origami classes registration begins.
Each participant has serial number in their name tag, and they lined up according to that number. People who gets earlier number on the first day, gets later number on the 2nd day.
Of course popular classes are usually sold out soon.
「満田さんのメロンなくなりましたー！！」
「加藤さんのエビ売り切れましたー！！」
作品名が食べ物だと超シュール。
まるで競りです。
臨場感あふれる光景は、コンベンションの風物詩になっています。
"Melon has beee sold out"
"Shrimp is now full"
It's like an auction in the market.
That exciting scene is a common site in this event.
ちなみに講習作品は、廊下にズラリと並んだ「実物」を見ながらチョイスしていく形式。
ここだけでしか折れない超レア作品や、書籍化されていない未公開作品がゴロゴロあります。
希望用紙を片手に、お目当ての講習を選ぶ参加者の目は、大人も子供も真剣そのものです。
We choose Origami classes while checking each sample in the common space.
There're all rare model that we can't play except here, or unpublished ones.
Everyone has an application form and looks them seriously to find their favorite classes.
私は海外ゲストである巨匠ロバート Ｊ・ラング氏や、気鋭の若手作家ボド・ハーグ氏の講習をゲット。ほくほくです。
Fortunately I got my favorite ones, special classes by Mr. Robert J. Lang and Mr. Bodo Haag.

特別講演
今年は第３０回記念ということで、海外ゲストの顔ぶれが半端ない。
Special seminar
This year is the 30th anniversary, so there were amazing guests from overseas.
■ロバート Ｊ・ラング氏
彼の話を聞けるだけで、参加費の元が取れたと言っても過言ではありません。
日本の神谷哲史氏とともに、折り紙の新時代を切り拓き、歴史を作った偉人です。
スティーブン・スピルバーグが目の前にいるようなものです。まさかお目にかかれる日が来るとは…！
今年１月に発生したカリフォルニアの山火事で自宅やスタジオが焼失し、作品のほとんどが失われてしまったそう。
あまりの悲劇的な出来事に会場が静まりかえる中、「新しいスタジオを作る計画がある」「これからもチャレンジを続けようと思う」という彼の言葉には、多くの人が勇気付けられたことと思います。
Mr. Robert J. Lang
It was worth paying the fee even if only this program.
He is a great person who pioneered a new era and built the history of origami, with Satoshi Kamiya.
It's just like facing Steven Spielberg. I've never thought the day would come!
In January of this year, his home and studio were destroyed in the California wildfires, and most of his works were lost.
Everyone fell silent after hearing such a tragic event. Even in that situation, he told us,
"I have a plan to build his new studio"
"I'll challenge from now on"
Many people must be empowered from his words.
会場には彼の作品のほか、残っていた写真データが展示されていました。
In the venue, part of his works and some pictures left behind were exhibited.
■ボド・ハーグ氏
今をときめくドイツの若手作家。
スーパーコンプレックス（超複雑系）の名手なのはもちろんですが、紙の裏表で色分けする「インサイドアウト」を用いた作品群は、他に類を見ないまったく新しいもの。
一般書籍では「究極の折り紙」で「キリン」が出てますね。
「バッタを捕まえたカマキリ（！）」のインパクトは今でも忘れられません。
Mr. Bodo Haag
He is a young featured origamist. His works are famous for super-complex ones, and especially notable for the unparalleled technique that expresses bi-colors using both sides of a paper.
"Giraffe" may be popular. And "Eating Mantis" was the most impressive for me.
トラの縞模様から「虎」の漢字を出したり（しかも反対側は「Tiger」）、「馬」が書かれたウマを折ったり…もう何なの。
It's incredible to design a chinese character "虎" on tiger's body, or "馬" on horse. I'm confused.
■ジョン・ジェイル氏
韓国のエキスパート集団「Origami Pro」のメンバー。
「カイマン（ワニ）」に代表される、いわゆる「かっこいいコンプレックス」が印象的ですが、紙の「面」を活かした作品群も見事。
北條氏のような蛇腹を駆使した構造とは対照的の、ポリゴンのような造形で作られた人間や動物は、とてもユニークで美しいです。
「海外の本を入手するのが難しかったので、自分で創作を始めました」ってサラリと言っていましたが、常人はそんなにサラリとできるもんじゃないですw
コーヒー屋がないから自分で栽培しました、みたいな…
Mr. Jeong Jae IL
He's a member of "Origami Pro", the experts of origamists.
It's famous for complex works such as "Caiman (Crocodile)", but he can also make human or animals that looks like polygon sculpture preserving the surface of paper. They're so cool.
He says "I hardly get origami textbooks from overseas, so I began to create by myself".
I think most people never do that.
It's like a people who wants to drink coffee so began to grow it from a bean.
彼の講習「Head of Gollila（ゴリラの頭）」のチケットを見事ゲットできたのだけれど、指導員講習とかぶってしまったので泣く泣く断念。
I could get a chicket for his class "Head of Gollila", but unfortunately I missed it because for the origami instructor exam.

折り紙教室
今年はＪＯＡＳの指導員資格を取得するため、座学や筆記試験、それから実技（自分の講習）の準備などがあったため、スポット参加となりました。
面白かったのが、袋井一樹さんの「コブラ」。
インサイドアウトで表現した胴体、シンプルかつ大胆な頭。これは新しいです。
難度も適切で、とても気持ちの良い講習でした。折り図もいただけて大満足でした。
Origami classes
This year I took a lecture, written exam, and practical exam for "Origami instructor". So I participated the classes few.
Among them, I was especially impressed "Cobra" designed by Kazuki Fukuroi.
The body was expressed with the back side of paper, and the head is simple & bold, the whole design has full of originality.
Difficulty was appropriate for me. And it was so satisfying that the diagram was distributed each participant.

I couldn't take photos, so I'll recommend Tommy's blog above. These are detailed reports about convention. He wrote them in amazingly short time, and his sentences are so friendly.

展示
これだけの作品が一堂に会するのは、レベル・点数ともに折紙探偵団コンベンションくらいでしょう。８６人のエントリーがあったそうです。
もうアレですね。
コメントするのも野暮です。
Exhibition
There's never been so many works lined up, in such extreme quality, except this event.
86 creators joined, I'll show you a part of them. We need no words.
実は私もちゃっかり出品してました。
前回の記事で紹介した「佐藤ローズの花瓶」です。
（前後にも作品が並ぶとは予想外でした。うしろの人ごめん）

余談
ラングさんに会えるなんて今後一生ないかもしれない、と思い立ち、１日目の夜に同氏の著書「昆虫Ⅱ」をひっ掴んでカバンに詰めて…
２日目の朝、声をかけたら快くサインしてくれました。
ビートルズのＣＤにポール・マッカートニーのサインを貰うようなものです。
これは家宝にします。
Others
I wondered this is the last opportunity that will never come to meet Mr. Robert J. Lang.
So I brought his textbook "Origami Insects vol.2".
When I asked him for his autograph, he gently accepted.
It's like getting autograph on The beatles CD by Paul McCartney.
This must be my heirloom.
厚かましくも、私が折った「カブトムシ」の写真も見せちゃったら、とても喜んでくれました。
「私の作品を、皆がこんなに美しく折ってくれるなんて思わなかったよ」とのこと。
「皆、あなたの作品が大好きですよ」とお伝えしました。
なんと記念写真まで撮らせてくれました。どこまで良い人なんだ。
And more, when I show the pictures of his model "Samurai Helmet Beetle" that I made in the past, he was so pleased. And told me "I didn't think that many people folded my works so beautifully". Then I told him "We all love your great works".
After that, he thankfully took a commemorative photo with me. What a wonderful time!
実はシッポ・マボナさんも参加してて、昔折った「ツバメ」の写真をお見せすることができました。
「あなたの作品ですよね、とても気に入っています」とお伝えでき、握手までできて嬉しかったです！
Mr. Sipho Mabona also participated, I met him and showed the pictures of his model "Swallow". I could tell him "This is your model, isn't it? I love it!" and able to shake hands. It was so pleased!

コンベンションレポート、お読みいただきありがとうございました。
２日連続で６時起きという中々のハードスケジュールですが、日帰りで参加できる距離に住んでいるだけ幸いなのでしょう。もちろん、その価値を十二分に感じられる素晴らしいイベントです。
スタッフの皆様、大変お疲れ様でした。
お会いしたオリガミストの皆様、ありがとうございました。

It was pretty hard days that I had to wake up at 6:00 A.M. each day, but It was relatively better that I can participate on a day trip. Of course it was wonderful event and worth doing.
I express my gratitude to all staffs, and all Origamists.
さて、先程からちらほら出ている「折紙指導員」というキーワードですが…
現在、審査結果を待っているところです！
「審査は概ね１ヶ月」と聞いているので、来月上旬には結果が分かるでしょう。良い報告ができるといいのですが…
いずれにせよ、もろもろのプロセスとともに記事にしたいと思っています。続報をお待ちくださいませ！
By the way, I have mentioned about "Instructor" in the past sentences, actually I took the exam and now waiting for the results.
It takes about a month, I wonder that I can tell as a good news... Anyway, I'll report that with all in the future. Stay tuned!
